Grid Connect Hub

Welcome to our dedicated page focusing on Grid Connect hubs! If you’ve stumbled upon us through a Google search, in search of a hub for your Grid Connect products, you’re in luck. We’ve dedicated significant time to explore and experiment with Grid Connect products, and we’re thrilled to share our findings with you.

Let’s start by diving into what Grid Connect is all about. Grid Connect utilizes the white-label version of the Tuya platform, with its products readily available at Bunnings Warehouse. One of the standout aspects of Grid Connect is its commitment to adhering to AU/NZ certification standards, ensuring both reliability and safety for users. While the majority of Grid Connect products operate via WiFi connectivity, there are a select few that utilize Bluetooth technology.

Now, let’s focus on the hubs offered by Grid Connect. When it comes to smart home hubs, Grid Connect doesn’t currently offer any. Instead, they market two products that act as WiFi bridges (not a hub). You can read more about it in my post Home Automation hubs, gateways & bridges

Arlec Grid Connect Smart Home Control Kit (SG120HA)

It’s essential to note that these products serve as Bluetooth bridges, enabling the passage of status updates from a few Bluetooth sensors to the internet. However, all WiFi-connected products within the Grid Connect ecosystem communicate directly with the Tuya cloud over the internet. Instructions sent from mobile apps or voice assistants also travel through the Tuya cloud to reach the devices.

The product has sensors and buttons that can be used to trigger the included adaptor or other Grid Connect products. Not compatible with SGS02HA, SGS03HA, and SGS04HA.

Orion Grid Connect Smart Wireless Hub With Socket (SG121HA)

The Smart Hub with Socket allows you to connect your compatible Grid Connect locks to your home Wi-Fi, and supports up to 30 device linkages.

The hub contains a built-in smart socket that can be controlled from your phone with the Grid Connect app or via voice control. The socket supports schedules, countdowns, and last state memory.

This hub is compatible with Gainsborough GLIBENTBL, GLIBLEVBL and Orion DL011HA, DL021HA and DL026HA locks, allowing them to be controlled remotely. It can also be used as a spare or replacement hub for Orion DL018HA and DL033HA.

Looks like this product is now discontinue and I will highly recommend not to use this product.

Consideration & recommendation

If you’re looking to add a hub to your Grid Connect products for centralised control and enhanced security through local network connectivity, unfortunately, Grid Connect doesn’t offer any such a device yet. However, exploring the Tuya cloud reveals a few options:

Zemismart M1 hub (Matter, Zigbee & Thread)

Zemismart M1 hub (Matter Smart Home Hub) this support Matter, Thread & Zigbee. This Hub only accepts control Tuya standard zigbee devices and Thread devices, not all zigbee devices can work with this hub, it is better to get Zemismart(Blindsmart) verified devices.

What about Bluetooth support for Grid connect product?

You are correct the above M1 Hub does not support bluetooth devices. Grid Connect provides limited bluetooth devices (Smart lock and some sensor) only for those you need WiFi bridge (SG121HA).

Stay tuned as we continue to explore the latest advancements in Grid Connect technology and share our experiences and insights with you. Let’s embark on this journey together towards a smarter, more connected future with Grid Connect hubs at the forefront.
